Agra Fort

Located in the historic city of Agra, Agra Fort is a stunning UNESCO World Heritage site that showcases the beauty of Mughal architecture. Made mainly from red sandstone, the fort served as the main residence of the Mughal emperors from Akbar’s reign until Shah Jahan moved the capital to Delhi in 1638.

Its vast walls, grand gates, and detailed palaces show the strength and elegance of the Mughal dynasty. Visitors can explore the Diwan-i-Aam (Hall of Public Audience), the Diwan-i-Khas (Hall of Private Audience), and the serene Anguri Bagh gardens, each offering a glimpse into royal life from centuries past.

As one of the top visiting places in India, it offers stunning views of the Taj Mahal, making it a great addition to the Golden Triangle itinerary. One of the fort’s most poignant stories is that of Emperor Shah Jahan, who was imprisoned here by his son Aurangzeb and spent his final years gazing at the Taj Mahal from the Musamman Burj.
